According to Article 19 clause 1 of the ACT ON THE PROTECTION OF FINANCIAL CONSUMERS, financial consumers hold the right to be explained about important matters concerning financial products or services.
Overdue interest rates are decided “within the legal maximum rate (20% annually) + contracted interest rate of each product and members”.
If there are no contracted interest rate at the point of overdue, contracted interest rate will be decided as follow:
- Lump sum payment overdue : monthly installment plan interest rate with interest during the minimum required period at the point of transaction (2 months)
- Interest-free installment plan overdue : monthly installment plan interest rate with interest during the identical installment contract period at the point of transaction
- Others : higher rates between legal interests and household loan rates in cooperative banks are applied.
-* The card issuance may be restricted when it is inappropriate to issue a card (low credit score, overdue(short-term included) occurrence) according to the latest weighted average loan rate (based on new loans) of non-bank financial institutions announced by Bank Of Korea every month.
