일부 이용자 개인정보 노출 관련 안내 및 사과의 말씀 (Personal Information Exposure Notice and Our Sincere Apology)

2019년 6월 초 가입자 중 이후 사용 이력이 없는 회원분들을 대상으로 ‘서비스 장기 미이용에 따른 휴면회원 전환 예정’을 안내해 드리는 과정에서 이메일 발송 시스템의 설정 오류로 일부 회원님의 소중한 이메일 주소가 타 회원분들께 노출되었습니다. 이에 깊이 사과드립니다.

beNX는 2020년 5월 4일 정보통신망법 제29조(개인정보의 파기) 및 같은 법 시행령 제16조(개인정보의 파기 등)에 따라, 서비스 출시 후 1년이 되는 시점에서 서비스 장기 미이용 회원에 대한 휴면회원 전환 안내를 드리고자 메일을 발송하였습니다. 그 과정에서 발송 단위 지정 시 개별 발송 설정 실수로 일부 메일이 수신인 본인 이외에 타수신자의 이메일 주소(29건 혹은 49건)가 포함된 상태로 발송되었습니다.

타인에게 노출된 개인정보 항목은 이메일 주소(총 1개)이며, 그 외 다른 정보는 없습니다.

당사는 사고 사실을 인지한 즉시, 한국인터넷진흥원(KISA)에 개인정보 유출 사실을 신고하였습니다. 향후 유관기관의 조사 또는 조치에 적극적으로 협조할 예정입니다. 또한 본인의 이메일 주소가 타 회원에게 노출된 회원님께는 이번 사고에 대해 개별 이메일로 안내드렸습니다. 타 회원의 정보가 포함된 메일을 받으신 회원님은 타 회원의 정보를 어떠한 목적으로도 이용하지 않으시기를 부탁드립니다.

현재 이번 사고로 노출된 개인정보를 이용하여 웹사이트 명의를 도용하는 등의 2차 피해가 발생하지 않도록 모니터링 중입니다. 지금까지 해당 사고에 따른 악용 의심사례는 발견되지 않았으나, 혹시 모를 피해를 예방하기 위해 지속적으로 모니터링하겠습니다. 

또한 개인정보 악용으로 의심되는 메일 등을 받으셨거나 피해가 발생 또는 예상되는 경우, 그밖에 궁금하신 사항이 있으시다면 아래 담당부서로 연락해주십시오. 성실하게 안내해 드리겠습니다.

Dear customers,

We are sorry to notify you that some of the customers' email addresses have been exposed to other customers due to the system setting error that occurred when sending the emails titled "[Weverse Shop] Regarding the long-term inactive accounts" to the customers who have been inactive since early June 2019.

In accordance with the Article 29 (Destruction of Personal Information) of ACT ON PROMOTION OF INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK UTILIZATION AND INFORMATION PROTECTION, ETC. of South Korea and the Article 16 (Destruction of Personal Information, etc.) of the aforementioned act, beNX dispatched emails on 4 May 2020 notifying that the personal information of Weverse Shop accounts that have been inactive for 1 year or longer will be separately stored and managed. In doing so, a system setting error occurred, and some emails were dispatched with other 29 or 49 email addresses included and exposed to other customers.

We confirm that only the email addresses have been exposed to other customers.

As soon as we identified that the exposure of personal information has occurred, we comprehensively reported the details of personal information exposure to the Korea Internet & Security Agency (KISA). We are dedicated to cooperating fully with the ensuing investigation and corrective measures by all the relevant parties. Furthermore, we sent an email notifying this incident to the customers whose email address has been exposed to other customers. If you received an email that has other customers' personal information, we strongly ask you to not use any of the personal information that is not yours, in any way.

We are monitoring the current situation thoroughly for any cases of further damage caused by personal data exposure, as we are concerned that it may lead to harmful incidents, such as identity theft. So far, no suspected damage due to this incident has been identified. But we kindly ask you to change the account password to prevent any form of damage that may occur and to delete the email with other customers' information to ensure that you do not use the information.

If you receive an email that is suspected to be a form of abuse due to the personal information exposure, or if you have any other questions, please contact us right away. We will kindly provide you assistance as quickly as possible. Furthermore, if you experience or suspect any damage, please contact the email of the department in charge to receive clear guidance and consultation.
